What does walking in the light mean?
Four main Bible verses that help us understand walking in the light. 1 John 1:7, “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin”. Fellowship with Jesus and other believers helps us live like Jesus wants us to live. Walking with our sins forgiven qualifies us to be close to Father God.
John 8:12, "When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.'" Darkness cannot be in the same places as light. Walking with Jesus keeps us from going down the wrong path. Ephesians 5:8, “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light”. It also keeps us from sinning. Psalm 119:105, "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."
Therefore, walking in the light means to walk with constant awareness of the presence of Jesus. You might say be enlightened by the Holy Spirit. See your journey through the eyes of Jesus, and you will see all the pitfalls on both sides of your path, so you can avoid them by staying on the path.
