The Holy Spirit wants us to serve the Lord at a steady pace. If we jump in and go too fast, we will soon get weary in well doing. We could also get ahead of God’s plan and miss a blessing and encouragement He was going to give us. (This reminds me of the parable of the tortoise and the hair).
1 Corinthians 15:58, Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Romans 12:11, Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
1 Kings 8:58, May he turn our hearts to him, to walk in obedience to him and keep the commands, decrees, and laws he gave our ancestors.
Colossians 3:23-24, Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, as for the Lord and not for men, / because you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as your reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
Galatians 6:9, Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
“Remember, if you don’t understand, ask!”
