We will start by discussing what it means to work out our own Salvation. Philippians 2:12.” Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,”
First, let's talk about what Salvation is all about. Salvation is about us needing a Savior because of sin, and Jesus, our Savior, dying in our place to save us from our sins. If you do not know what being saved is, please ASK!
Second, the enemy tries to trick us into ignoring our salvation. 1 Peter 5:8, Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. We need to be on our guard all the time because the enemy is very tricky. He will mess with our minds and fool us into believing lies. We need to know the truth to be truly free. John 8:32, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Third, we often lead ourselves astray. Proverbs 14:12 and 16:25 say precisely the same thing, “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end, it leads to death.” Because it is written twice in the Bible, it indicates that this is very, very important for us to know. Do not leave your knowledge of Salvation to chance. Know without a shadow of a doubt that you are saved and going to heaven. Psalm 46:10, “He says, Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Romans 10:9-10. Look it up and read it until you believe it. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you confirmation that you are saved. Romans 8:16, “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.” 1 John 1:7 and 9, “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” and “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
“Workout” means doing what you need to do so you know that you are saved and what it will take for you to stay saved. “With fear and trembling” means with reverence to God the Father, and make your frail, scared being work the kinks out of your salvation. Kinks are your doubts, fears, and anything else that can come between you and your Salvation.
You can do this because Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” Do not be afraid of what people may say. Deuteronomy 31:6, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Fellow Christians will be there to help you. Hebrews 10:23 - 25, Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
“Remember, if you don’t understand, ask!”
