Since we are unique, we have a unique relationship with Father God. Therefore, I will give you some general tips to lead you in the right direction to hear God for yourself. Tips on how to hear God:
Know that you are a child of God. John 1:12, Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. Romans 8:16, The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.
Know that God does talk to His children. Jeremiah 33:3, Call to me, and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. John 8:47 says, Whoever belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.
Know that we can hear God. John 10:27, My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
Know that the Holy Spirit will help you hear God’s voice. John 14:26, But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
Now listen. Write down what you feel God is saying to you. John 10:27, My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
Still not sure if you are hearing God? Read Luke 11:11-13. Then ask the Lord to send the Holy Spirit with a Word from God. If you ask, He will send it.
Luke 11:11-13, “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
