This question can be a little tricky to answer because everyone thinks and perceives things differently. There is a difference between understanding signs and using signs to predict a certain (specific) time. Predicting a certain (specific) time is impossible because of all the various possibilities. Also, the Bible is clear (Matthew 24:36) that predicting when Jesus will return is not possible.
Understanding signs, trends, norms, and anything else that can help us maintain a safe environment is just good common sense. However, Jesus warns us that knowing the signs, trends, norms, and anything else that can help us maintain a safe environment is not as important as understanding spiritual signs of the times (Matthew 16:2-3). Spiritual signs of the times are given to help us keep watch of our relationship and journey with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Matthew 24:42-51).
